The Perfect Gutter Cleaning Recipe

The Perfect Gutter Cleaning Recipe

As the old adage goes — “Out of sight, out of mind.” That’s precisely the reason homeowners tend to neglect their rain gutters. However, it’s extremely important to keep your gutters cleaned and unclogged all year round to prevent damage to both your roof and exterior.

If you rummage through your shed, chances are you’ll find a cleaning solvent with “TSP-PF” marked on the bottle. TSP-PF products are free of harmful phosphates and are ideal for removing grease. So grab your TSP-PF cleaner and whip up this mixture to clean your gutters.

You’ll need:

  • 1 cup, TSP-PF
  • 1 quart, Clorox Bleach
  • 3 quarts, Hot Water

Additional items:

  • Tarp (enough to cover your workspace)
  • Rag or Soft Bristled Brush

How do I clean my gutters?

Lay out a tarp to protect any grass or plants beneath your gutters. Mix the TSP-PF, Clorox Bleach, and hot water. Use a rag or soft bristled brush to apply the solution and scrub until clean.

This should be repeated at the beginning of each season.
