DIY Gutter Cleaning

DIY Gutter Cleaning

The following tips can be done by anyone, including beginners who are just starting to explore DIY home projects. Time to clean the gutters? We can help sort you out by offering some excellent tips to get those gutters looking brand new.

Debris

If you’re willing to get a little dirty, then this tip is perfect for you! Get a ladder( if you have one) and climb up to the gutters. Get rid of the leaves and other debris in there, this can save you a lot of time and money on repairs in the future. It shouldn’t take you much time at all, but it all depends on the amount of debris you have in there. You should take the hose after you have finished and spray everything down to get rid of all of the fine debris that your hands can’t reach.

To prevent having to do this too often, try installing some covers on top of your gutters to keep out the dirt and debris. You can either make yourself one or buy one in the store.

Rust

If you’ve installed metal covers over your gutters in the past, then you might start to see rust buildup on the metal covers. There’s not much you can do to prevent this, but you can keep it from getting worse. Everytime you clean out your gutters, take the time to remove the rust from the covers. You can also use a primer on the covers to protect them and minimize the formation of rust.

Leaks

If you notice any leaks while you’re clenaing out your gutters, you should take the time to repair them. Need help? You can always call a local gutter expert.
